Treasure/coin hunting or gold prospecting... 

There are two main categories of metal detectors that we are going to mention. These are treasure/coin detectors and gold detectors. The reason there are two categories is because the technology used for these activities is very different. Some detectors such as Minelabs Xterra 705 Gold pack claim to be able to do both, however for effective gold prospecting it is advisable to get a detector made for gold prospecting only such as the GPX5000.
